ACTIVITIES

Community Service
In past holiday seasons we were pleased to participate in the 'Children Giving to Children' Blue Santa Parade, sponsored by Chuy's. The event is held to encourage the public to donate toys & other necessary items for those who are less fortunate and in need. Our dogs really put their hearts into pulling our sled that is specially designed for gift collection. In 1997, we were invited for the first time, to take part in The Georgetown Stroll. The evening holiday parade is held on the Square in Georgetown, Texas. This is a fun event. The Club had the honor of bringing Santa into town in our sled pulled by 10 Siberian Huskies. Mrs. Claus took a speedier route using our two-dog cart. The Sled was outlined in white lights and the dogs also wore collars of lights. The club was honored to be named "MOST WONDERFUL FLOAT" by the officals.

Mardi Gras! Every year in Galveston the Krewe of Barkus and Meoux Paw Parade is held during Mardi Gras. This Costumed Procession is for animals dressed in their Mardi Gras best. All proceeds benefit the Galveston Island Animal Shelter/Adoption Center, Inc.

Fund Raising
Poopy Patrol- We know! But, somebody has to do it. CTSHC has provided area kennel clubs with ring running and patrol services during their AKC sanctioned shows.

Raffles- Our Raffles are held in conjunction with our Specialty Matches. Check our upcoming events page for dates & times. The raffles include general all-breed stuff & some really cool Siberian collectibles. Tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. Take a chance & have some fun!

Educational Programs
Handling Seminars provide a good source of information, tips and practice to those interested in exhibiting in conformation. Our seminars range from 'novice' to 'advanced' levels of instruction. Upcoming Events will provide information on available lectures.

Public Education Committee
Educational Materials are available from our collection of Siberian and related literature. Our PEC Chairman, Amanda Gibney amanda@kyriesiberians.com, will gladly send residents of Central Texas a free informational packet.

Breed information & Referrals are always available from our members. You'll find them listed in our member's directory. We also provide this information at any public function in which we participate, such as, 'Bark in the Park', adoption days & vaccination clinics.

Free Lectures on the Siberian Husky and associated topics are presented by various CTSHC members. Whether you have a class of first graders or a Kennel Club, we would be glad to speak to your local group. Past lectures include, Iditarod, The Breed Standard, & Caring for your Dog.

CGC Test
The club often conducts the AKC's Canine Good Citizen Test. If you are in our area and interested in your dog attaining this title contact Caryl Smith JimnCaryl@worldnet.att.net for information on our next test.

Parties
This club is rather laid-back and informal. There's nothing better than being with friends and having a good time. We have enjoyed 4th of July B-B-Q's. During the Winter holidays we gather together and hold the "See How Long You Can Hold On to It," Gift Exchange! This Party gets really silly!
