Due to much misinformation on the web, regarding the Thai Bangkaew Dog, we find it necessary to offer these points of clarification. Registration Certificates–Thai Bangkaew Dogs are registered within several registries. In Thailand, they may be registered with the Kennel Club of Thailand (KCTH), the Thai Bangkaew Club of Thailand (TBCT), The Preservation & Development of Bangkaew in Thailand Assoc. (PDBT). For a Bangkaew dog to be registered in the USA by the parent club TBDCA, owner must submit copies of registration certificate & a 3 generation pedigree issued by one of the listed clubs. Recognition for Exhibition– The Thai Bangkaew is currently recognized for registration & exhibition in the USA by TBDCA, NCA, & IABCA. They have not yet been accepted by ARBA, UKC, or NKC. Micro Chipping- We highly recommend the use of micro chips to identify lost or stolen dogs. However, if you are shipping a dog from Thailand do not pay a micro chip fee. First, there is no law requiring imported dogs to have a micro chip. Secondly, any brand of chip placed in a dog in Thailand will not be of any use in the Americas. The chips made for Asia & Europe are a 15 digit ISO chip. These are NOT compatible with any scanner in the USA, including the Universal Avid Mini Tracker Multi Scanner. It reads only 9 digit Avid & Home Again brand chips produced for use in North America. Dogs who have the ISO chips will require a new chip to be tracked in the US. Contracts– It is certainly wise to get a contract in writing to spell out what is expected & guaranteed. Contracts should be designed to protect the interests of all involved, including the dog. However, a contract is only good if it is enforceable in the event of a problem. Please be aware you may have no legal recourse with persons residing outside the USA. Contractual agreements that have time dependent clauses may be rendered useless if in conflict with the import & export laws of the US & Thailand. Health Certifications & Guarantees- Hip & eye certification is not readily available in Thailand. So, an imported dog cannot be guaranteed with any certainty. If you interested in Show & Breeding quality dogs it is recommended that dogs be obtained from TBDCA Code of ethics Breeder, who follow the screening requirements for eyes, hips & patellae. Testimonials– are intended to be a statement testifying to a benefit received, a character reference, a letter of recommendation or an expression of sincere appreciation. More over it is found that the dog dealers use this marketing tool in an attempt to set the buyers at ease. That is why any letters of dissatisfaction are never seen. For the most part, testimonials and celebrity endorsements are simply fictional. Who’s going to verify them? If one does question a testimonial, the advertiser simply says they lost contact with the puppy buyer. It is fortunate that most people understand that testimonials are an insult to their intelligence. Testimonials only attest to skill in the art of blatant self promotion, nothing else. Marketing- PUPPIES FOR SALE! Statements like this make it obvious their interest lies only in marketing puppies. Beware of websites that proclaim awesome dogs, or perfect companions. You should be wary if no negative breed characteristics are noted. Avoid those who use exotic sounding descriptions or names. These are indications of a seller who doesn't know the breed or it's standard. They depend on the fact that people think a web site indicates that they are reputable. When in fact, they are hiding behind half truths and a computer screen.
Payment- Beware of a breeder that only accepts payment in the form of direct wired money transfers, such as Western Union, MoneyGram, or bank-to-bank wire transfer. By using these services, the money is virtually unrecoverable with no recourse for the victim. If you have fallen victim to a scam it may be reported to the IC3
Even if you use the services of a translator & shipper, make every effort to have direct dealings the breeder. Reputable breeders will know the standard, faults, disqualifications as well as the temperament, & health of their line. Make sure they adhere to a Code of Ethics, whether in the US or Thailand.
